It is obvious that one of us is more into food and foodly philosophies than the other. I am sure those of you who knows us, know which is which. Ayurvedic principles have been of interest to one of us for quite some time and a lovely friend gifted us with a great cookbook (The Modern Ayurvedic Cookbook), thanks friend. Ayurvedic philosophy revolves around our understanding to the elements in nature and states that we are all composed of doshas (earth, wind, and fire), one or two being more prominent in each of us more than the other(s). In our case, one of us is a windy-fire and the other is earth; opposites really do attract.

Back to the recipe.
The recipes in the aforementioned cookbook help to balance out the doshas and provide tips on which ingredients to add or omit depending on those doshas.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut oil or butter (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup carob powder
- 1 cup almond meal
- 2/3 cup flour (kamut or unbleached white)
- pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup carob chips or nuts of your choice
Directions:
- Dosha 1 (windy-fire) preheat oven to 320’F
- Dosha 2 (the earthy grounded one) should combine the coconut oil and maple syrup and patiently wait until they are well mixed
- In a separate bowl, Dosha 1 should calmly combine carob powder, almond meal, oat flour, and salt, until evenly blended, then stir in the carob chips
- Add together the oil and maple syrup mixture and stir
- Finally both should place tbsp. sized balls of the batter on a baking sheet and press down into circles, the earthy one should place them in the over and bake for 12 minutes
Enjoy!
